Installing VideoCraft GIF Animator: =================================== In the \16bit directory, you will find "setup16.exe" which will install VideoCraft GIF Animator (16-bit version) for Windows 3.1 In the \32bit directory, you will find "setup32.exe" which will install VideoCraft GIF Animator (32-bit version) for Windows 95 or Windows NT. Problems Installing VideoCraft GIF Animator: =========================================== If you have difficulties with using either setup program, please check the following: 1. Make sure you have a TEMP directory specified in your autoexec.bat file. (It would appear in autoexec.bat as "TEMP=C:\TEMP" or similar) 2. Remove as many files as you can from the TEMP directory and run the install again. 3. Make sure you have enough free disk space. (At least 10 MB free) 4. Close any programs running in Windows that may be interfering with the setup program. 5. "Missing files (_SETUP.DLL, _ISRES.DLL, _SETUP.LIB, etc.)": This message appears when there are too many files in your temp directory. Try cleaning out your temp directory and running the install again. 6. Make sure your computer is able to read the CD ROM without errors. If the CD disk is scratched, or if your CD ROM driver software is in error, then this can cause various problems when trying to read files from the CD ROM. Try testing this CD ROM in another computer. 7. If all else fails, try restarting the computer, then run the VideoCraft setup program again. The weirdness may dissappear by then. What is VideoCraft GIF Animator? ================================ VideoCraft GIF Animator is a powerful special effects editor which creates animated GIF files by applying various effects to either still images or AVI video files. The output will be an animated GIF file that you can display on your web pages just like any other GIF. The most complete documentation on using VideoCraft is provided as a Windows help file which is installed with this version of VideoCraft. Problems Starting VideoCraft ============================ "Missing File AVIFILE.DLL": This message appears if you are running Windows 3.1 and did not install Microsoft's Video for Windows drivers, which are needed by VideoCraft. You can download these drivers from Microsoft at ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/Softlib/MSLFILES/WV1160.EXE or find more info online at http://www.andatech.com/pmorph2/vfw_info.html "Missing File MFC30.DLL": This message appears if you try to start VideoCraft in Windows NT without the MFC helper files installed. The 32-bit VideoCraft setup program will install these files, but another program may have removed them. Run the "setup32.exe" again. VideoCraft crashes immediately: If VideoCraft crashes immmediately when you try to start the program, it is most likely that you have a video compresssion, such as a video capture card driver, that conflicts with Windows. Try to uninstall or unload the conflicting driver before starting VideoCraft.
